Embody

Joy

Sliding through a hollowed log,

            I enter a new realm.

                        The river’s embrace welcomes me—

With webbed feet, I swim with the current,

Twirling, spinning—

Life is my playground.

Releasing the pups

That once slept on my belly

Into the arms of the greater ocean.

Paw in paw, my family extends.

Laying back, I anchor my belly

In the sway of the kelp forests.

Time to dream the new world into being.

Receive the sun’s kiss of affection.

                        Laugh. Smile. Be less serious.

Rested, I navigate transitions

With buoyancy.

Becoming more adorable.
